The Crystal Gazer

I shall gather myself into my self again,
I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball
Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun.
I Shall sit like a sibyl, hour after hour intent.
Watching the future come and the present go -
And the little shifting pictures of people rushing
In tiny self-importance to and fro.

- Sarah Teasdale

My Interpretation

This poem, I initially, got the image of Harry Potter in my head. It seemed as though the poem was about a future teller. Reading deeper, I found that instead of reading the future this poem is talking about this person watching their own life and making their own future. Wrapping up their entire life and collecting it in one spot, is basically this person getting their life back in order, back together possibly from a shattering devastation.
